On November 15, the 2020 academic exchange meeting of National Key Research and Development Program "Research on Comprehensive Assessment Model of Economic Impact of Climate Change (2016YFA0602600)" was held in Beijing. The exchange meeting was organized by the Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center of Beijing Institute of Technology, the project lead unit. Leaders of the High Technology Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the project, members of the project expert group, leaders of the school’s scientific research institute, as well as the project leaders and principals of the project partner National Information Center, National Climate Center, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Institute for Advanced Study, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. participated in the exchange meeting. The project expert group is composed of experts from Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, East China University of Science and Technology, Guangdong Ocean University, Beijing Normal University and other units.

At the exchange meeting, the leaders of the competent department introduced the performance management reform of the national key research and development plan and gave instructions on strengthening project management. The leaders of the school’s research institute delivered a speech at the meeting. The project leader, Professor Wei Yiming, reported on the overall situation of the project. The leaders of each project reported the progress of each project. The backbone of the project focused on the global self-protection strategy against climate change and the design of China’s carbon neutral path, climate loss assessment and disaster footprint model development, highlighted research reports were made on the estimation of atmospheric CO2 concentration and CGE modeling of "global-national-regional". The project team has made important progress in scientific research, talent training, decision support, and international influence.

The expert group questioned the project and the research work of each topic, affirmed the research results, and put forward constructive suggestions for further improving the project research work. After the meeting, the project team discussed and deployed follow-up research work based on the opinions of leaders and experts.
