Prof. Michael Pollitt gave talks in CEEP

  On January 13, 2017, Prof. Michael Pollitt from University of Cambridge gave a report entitled “Restructuring the Chinese Electricity Supply Industry: Lessons from the European Experience” at CEEP-BIT. The report was hosted by A.Prof. Ke Wang, some other teachers and students attended the report.
  In this report, Prof. Pollitt focused on the reforming of Chinese electricity market. With the current Five Year Plan. China’s electricity sector is undergoing a major transition from a state managed system to a market price based system. Based on the market circumstances and British reforming experiences, Prof. Pollitt give some specific reforming advices to Chinese government. 
  Michael Pollitt is Professor of Business Economics at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. He is an Assistant Director of the university’s Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG) and a Fellow and Director of Studies in Economics and Management at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He is co-editor of Economics of Energy and Environmental Policy and a member of the editorial board of the Review of Industrial Organization and Competition and Regulation in Network Industries.

 


  Michael has published 9 books and over 60 refereed journal articles on efficiency analysis, energy policy and business ethics. Michael was external economic advisor to the Great Britain energy regulator, Often, between 2007 and 2011 and is currently on the Office of Rail Regulation's expert advisory panel and an advisor to EdF Energy. He has advised national energy regulators across Europe, the UK Competition Commission, the UK Consumers’ Association, New Zealand Commerce Commission, as well as the World Bank and European Commission.
