Ph.D. student Lu Qiao from CEEP-BIT went to Ottawa University for a joint-training program

  Lu Qiao, Ph.D. candidate from the Beijing institute of technology, went to Ottawa, Canada in early December 2019 for one-year doctoral joint Ph.D. program. Her tutor abroad is Gamal Atallah, an associate professor of economics at the University of Ottawa. The University of Ottawa, founded in 1848, is located in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. It is the Canada's oldest and world’s largest bilingual university. It is also a renowned academic research center in Canada.

  

  Her current research focuses on the impact of mergers and acquisitions on technological progress and innovation, particularly in overseas oil and gas investments and renewable energy technologies. The study planned to be conducted at the university of Ottawa is a study on the heterogeneous influence mechanism of mergers and acquisitions on the technological innovation of renewable energy enterprises. The main purpose of the study is to provide theoretical support and empirical analysis for Chinese energy enterprises on how to choose the objects of mergers and acquisitions and how to realize the actual needs of technological progress and innovation. During the visit, she participated in many academic reports, and the foreign tutor gave her a lot of guidance on industrial economics and econometric methods. Through this exchange, she have broadened her research horizon, enriched her knowledge of economics, and laid a good foundation for better promotion and completion of research work.
