At 10:00 am on January 9, 2020, Dr. Bin Su, a senior researcher at the Energy Research Institute of the National University of Singapore, was invited to give an academic report entitled “Measure Energy/Emission Intensities from Production and Demand Perspectives”. This report was presided over by Ms. Shen Meng, and teachers and students of the School of Management and Economics participated.

Dr. Su Bin is a senior researcher at the Energy Research Institute of the National University of Singapore, deputy director of the Energy and Environment Research Center, the head of the energy system modeling team, and the director general of the energy conservation and low carbon path development research project in Singapore. At present, he is an Associate Editor and Guest Editor of Energy Economics (SSCI), Guest Editor of Applied Energy (SCI), Guest Editor of Journal of Cleaner Production (SCI), Editorial Board Member of Reports on Economics and Finance, Environmental Economic Research and Journal of China University of Petroleum (social science edition), and reviewer of more than 60 international journals. At the same time, Dr. Su Bin presided over and participated in more than 20 government research projects related to energy and environment in Singapore, and received financial support from the Singapore Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and other government departments. His main research areas are energy and environmental economics and policy, energy and climate change, and modeling and analysis of energy and environmental systems. He has published more than 70 SCI / SSCI papers in energy and environment related international journals, including more than 20 ESI highly cited articles, has been cited more than 4000 times in research work, and selected into clarivate analytics Global High cited scientists (cross cutting fields) in 2018 and global high cited scientists (economy and business) in 2019.

In this report, considering the importance of energy / emission intensity indicators in scientific research and government decision-making, while the traditional method generally measures the intensity from the perspective of production, Dr. Su Bin summarized the measurement of production and demand intensity at the national and regional levels. At the same time, the meaning and future development trend of strength measurement were discussed. At the end of the report, we discussed the definition and development of energy intensity and took a group photo.
