  From January 10 to 15, 2020, 11 doctoral students from the Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center were invited by the Institute of Disaster Prevention, Kyoto University, Japan to participate in the joint During the "Sino-Japanese Youth Science and Technology Exchange Program" project, a series of scientific and cultural exchange activities were carried out with Japanese scholars, and the mission was successfully completed.

  

  From January 11th to 12th, the project members participated in the 10th China-Japan Joint Symposium on Sustainable Urban and Regional Management under Disaster and Environmental Risk, hosted by the Institute of Disaster Prevention of Kyoto University and undertaken by Nagoya Institute of Technology. The 11 doctoral students of the center reported on their respective research work at the meeting, which strengthened the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Japanese scholars in the fields of climate change, risk management, and sustainable development. On January 13, under the leadership of teachers and students of Nagoya Institute of Technology, the project members visited the famous Nagoya City and the natural and human scenery of Nagoya City, and learned about the history and culture of Nagoya.

  On January 14, the project members visited the Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University. During the communication with the teachers and students of the Institute for Disaster Prevention, the doctoral students of the Center learned about the Institute ’s overview and historical evolution, and then participated in a series of lectures on climate change, and conducted in-depth research on disaster management and climate change comprehensive assessment models Academic discussion. In the afternoon, the project members visited the mountain torrent debris flow simulation laboratory, earthquake simulation research laboratory, wind tunnel laboratory of Kyoto University and the campus scenery of Uji Campus of Kyoto University. In the evening, teachers and students of the Institute for Disaster Prevention hosted a farewell dinner for the project members, and everyone recalled this short and beautiful time.

  By participating in the China-Japan Youth Science and Technology Exchange Program, young scholars have strengthened scientific and technological exchanges in the field of environmental management, further understood the cultural traditions and scientific progress of both sides, and enhanced Sino-Japanese friendship.
