CEEP-BIT and ERIA Joint Workshop was Successfully Held

 On March 27th 2012, CEEP-BIT and ERIA Joint Workshop on Energy & Environmental Modeling for Policy Development was successfully held in Beijing Friendship Hotel for the purpose of international communication and cooperation. Nearly 200 participants attended the conference including not only senior researchers from both Chinese and foreign institutes, but also professors and students from different universities. Chaired by Prof. Yi-Ming Wei, director of the CEEP-BIT, the conference first invited Shu-Kang Yang, vice-president of BIT and Mr. Mitsuo Matsumoto, managing director for Research Affaires, ERIA to give the welcome address and opening address respectively. After the opening session, Prof. Yan-De Dai, deputy director-general of Energy Research Institute, NDRC and Prof. Fukunari Kimura gave the keynote speeches about the introduction of the both institutions and the purpose of this conference.

    In the first half session, four experts from ERIA shared their models applying econometrics and optimization to all, after each of which they vividly answered questions raised by the audience.

Correspondingly, researchers from Chinese side also presented their findings in the second half session. It’s noteworthy that young researchersfrom CEEP-BIT Qiao-Mei Liang, associate professor of BIT showed her CEEPA model and Dr. Ke Wang presented his latest research in regional efficiency based on DEA model.

Finally, Mr. Professor Fukunari Kimura gave the closing remark at the end of the conference, briefly rendering his thanks to all and high expectation of more cooperation between ERIA and CEEP-BIT.
