A.Prof. Chengyao Zhang

Dr. Chengyao Zhang is an Associate Professor at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research and the School of Management, Beijing Institute of Technology, and serves as a PhD supervisor. She obtained her PhD in Engineering from The University of Tokyo. She is a Contributing Author to the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, and serves as a reviewer for high-impact international SCI/SSCI journals such as Nature Communications and the Journal of Environmental Management.

Her main research interests focus on low-carbon transition pathways in industrial sectors, circular economy, and waste management and treatment systems, with particular emphasis on system modeling and policy-relevant analysis. She was awarded the“Rising Star for Women in Engineering”at the Asian Deans’ Forum 2024.

Dr. Chengyao has participated in multiple research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and major Japanese funding agencies, including NEDO, JSPS, and KAKENHI. She has published several influential and high-impact papers, including those recognized as ESI Highly Cited Papers. She is also a recipient of multiple prestigious scholarships, such as MEXT and CSC, highlighting both the excellence of her research and the breadth of her contributions to the field.
