1. Completion of steel tower erection for Egypt's largest onshore wind power project under construction
Recently, all steel tower erection work for the Egypt Suez Gulf 1.1 GW onshore wind power project — the largest onshore wind power project under construction in Egypt — undertaken by Power China Hubei Engineering Company, was successfully completed. This has laid a solid foundation for the timely connection of the transmission line and the overall grid-connected commissioning, and will provide an important demonstration for clean energy development and green low-carbon transformation in the African continent.
The project is the largest onshore wind power project under construction in Egypt and the second largest in the African continent. The project is divided into northern and southern zones, with a total of 138 wind turbines of 8 MW each, bringing the total installed capacity to 1.1 GW. Upon completion and operation, the project is expected to provide over 4.3 billion kWh of clean green electricity annually, meeting the annual electricity demand of approximately 1 million Egyptian households, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2.2 million tons per year. It will effectively promote Egypt's achievement of the emission reduction targets under the Paris Agreement and its energy development goal of renewable energy accounting for 42% by 2030.
2. Indonesia's first solar-powered data center photovoltaic project passes completion acceptance
Recently, the 36 MWp ground-mounted photovoltaic EPC project in the Pertiwilestari Industrial Park in West Java, Indonesia, undertaken by Power China, successfully passed the completion acceptance and obtained the PAC certificate issued by the owner, marking the official entry into the warranty period and laying a solid foundation for subsequent full commercial operation.
The project is Indonesia's first data center project powered by solar energy, located at the northeast corner of the Karawang Industrial Park in West Java, Indonesia, 45 km in a straight line from Jakarta. It adopts an EPC general contracting model, with an installed capacity of 36 MWp and a capacity ratio of 1.2987. It uses monocrystalline silicon N-type bifacial double-glass photovoltaic modules with a single-unit capacity of 720 Wp, along with 330 kV string inverters and a fixed support solution. The scope of construction covers the entire process of design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and grid-connection permitting for the photovoltaic field area, transmission lines, and transformation on the receiving side.
After completion, the project is expected to generate an average annual power output of 52 million kWh, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 42,000 tons per year, equivalent to the environmental benefit of planting 230,000 trees. It will supply green electricity to the DISM national data center in the park. The successful operation of the project will significantly optimize the energy structure of West Java, inject strong momentum into Indonesia's national strategic goal of achieving 23% renewable energy by 2025, and serve as a model project for the synergistic development of "photovoltaics + industry."
3. National Development and Reform Commission signs cooperation document with Ecuador's Ministry of Environment and Energy
On August 18, 2026, witnessed by the heads of state of China and Ecuador, the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Minister of Environment and Energy of Ecuador signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of the Republic of Ecuador on Cooperation in Green Industry Development. In the next step, the two sides will carry out exchanges and cooperation in areas such as energy-saving and carbon-reducing industries, resource recycling industries, and water-saving industries.

1. Steady progress in nuclear power project construction, with total installed capacity ranking first in the world
This year, China has intensified its efforts in nuclear power project construction, with the scale of nuclear power projects under construction firmly ranking first in the world. Not long ago, with the completion of the passive containment cooling water tank hoisting for Unit 4 of the Haiyang Nuclear Power Phase II project, the project has fully entered the installation and commissioning stages.
Beyond the Haiyang nuclear power project, China currently has 57 approved nuclear power units under construction, with the scale under construction accounting for more than half of the global total. The total installed capacity of nuclear power units in operation and under approved construction has reached 135 million kilowatts, ranking first in the world.
As an important energy source driving the green transformation of the economy and society, China's nuclear power, accounting for less than 2% of the national power installed capacity, contributes nearly 5% of the total electricity generation. In four provinces — Guangdong, Fujian, Liaoning, and Hainan — the share of nuclear power generation exceeds 15%, making nuclear power an important source of clean energy supply for the eastern coastal regions.
At the end of July, China newly approved 8 nuclear power units, marking the first batch of nuclear power projects approved during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China's nuclear power construction will continue to adhere to the principle of "active, safe, and orderly development," steadily advancing the construction of nuclear power belts along the eastern coast, promoting the comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy according to local conditions, and steadily increasing the share of nuclear power in energy and electricity consumption.
2. Asia's first flexible DC offshore wind power project exceeds 10 billion kWh in cumulative power generation
For deep-sea offshore wind power development, power transmission is a key link. The Three Gorges New Energy Jiangsu Rudong 800 MW offshore wind power project — Asia's first offshore wind power project using flexible DC transmission technology for power delivery — recently delivered its performance report: as of August 11, cumulative power generation had exceeded 10 billion kWh. This provides practical validation for the large-scale application of flexible DC transmission technology for large-capacity, long-distance offshore wind power in China.
Since its full-capacity grid-connected operation in 2021, the project has been operating safely and stably for more than 1,600 days, with equipment availability reaching 99.5%. The clean electricity generated can meet the annual household electricity demand of approximately 4 million households, equivalent to saving 3 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7.4 million tons.
3. First 10-million-ton crude oil pipeline of the "15th Five-Year Plan" period put into operation
On August 13, the National Pipeline Network Group announced that the Lianyungang-to-Yizheng crude oil pipeline project, a key national petroleum and natural gas infrastructure project, had successfully commissioned its Lianyungang-to-Huai'an section in one attempt. This is the first 10-million-ton crude oil pipeline put into operation at the start of China's "15th Five-Year Plan" period, and it is of great significance for optimizing the energy supply structure in central and eastern China and improving the "national one-network" layout for oil and gas.
After the Lianyungang-Huai'an section of the Lianyungang-Yizheng pipeline is put into operation, it will connect with the already operational Rizhao-Yizheng pipeline, ultimately delivering crude oil to the Yizheng station, an eastern crude oil hub in China, with a maximum daily throughput of 70,000 tons. It will provide service and support for petrochemical enterprises in Jiangsu Province and along the Yangtze River, effectively enhancing the multi-channel energy supply security capacity for users along the Yangtze River. It will play a significant role in optimizing the oil and gas pipeline network layout in the Yangtze River Delta region and in the unified allocation of imported crude oil resources.
