The energy development landscape during this period will not only directly determine whether China can achieve its targets of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and reducing carbon intensity by 65%, but also test whether the country is fostering sustainable endogenous green growth momentum. Furthermore, it is critical to securing solid energy support for the advancement of Chinese-style modernization. This report reviews China's energy development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, analyzes the challenges to be faced during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, and provides a forward-looking perspective on future development prospects.
