Dr. Qu Shen was approved for the 2020 National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Science Fund Project

  Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China officially announced the list of projects funded by the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund in 2020.

  Dr. Qu Shen was introduced as a talent at the beginning of this year and joined the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research of Beijing Institute of Technology as the deputy director, special researcher and doctoral supervisor. Before joining, he served as a Dow Sustainability Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan. Dr. Shen’s main research directions include economic assessment of environmental risks, energy-water-food linkages, and sustainable urban development. So far, he has published more than 40 papers, among which, he has published more than 20 papers in leading journals such as Nature Communications, Global Environmental Change, Environmental Science & Technology, and Applied Energy as the first or corresponding author. The results are applied to the research and development of the national first environmental pollution liability insurance risk control system, carbon emission rights trading in the power industry, and overall optimization of resource elements in mega cities. Dr. Shen won the Dow Chemical Sustainability Postdoctoral Award, the Young Scholar Award of the Chinese Society of Industrial Ecology, and was selected into the list of outstanding contributions to early career scientists in Environmental Science & Technology. Dr. Shen is currently serving as the Managing Editor of Resources, Conservation & Recycling (2019 Impact Factor 8.806) SCI/SSCI Journal; Editorial Board Member of Environmental Accounting and Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Advance in Environmental Waste Management & Recycling SCI/SSCI Journals.

  The Outstanding Youth Science Fund is the first special fund established by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2012. It aims to further implement the national medium and long-term talent development plan, strengthen the training of innovative young talents, and improve the national natural science fund talent funding system.
