Prof. Michael Pollitt gave talks in CEEP

  On August 17th, 2016, Prof. Michael Pollitt of University of Cambridge gave talks about “What Have We Learned from the Era of Energy Liberalisation” in CEEP. The report was hosted by associate professor Biying Yu. Some other teachers and students attended the seminar.
  Michael Pollitt is a business economics professor in University of Cambridge, and served as deputy director of EPRG, College of Economics and Management researcher and professor in Sidney Sussex. He is also the co-editor of Economics of Energy and Environmental Policy, Editorial board member of Review of industrial Organization and Competition and Regulation in Network Industries.
  This report consists of five parts: the main points of energy market liberalization, background, effects, significance and association in low-carbon economy era. Michael Pollitt pointed out that the energy market liberalization is a main part of economic liberalization, which still need to be improved in regulation, market competition, innovation and environment. Michael also put forward that currently there are still many problems for researches of energy liberalization, such as the few studies on effects of the reform of coal and the conversion of natural gas into electricity. He thinks there should be more researches associated with energy price system and the tax system.
