From May 14 to 16, 2026, Professor Wei Yiming, Fellow of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering and Director of the Beijing Laboratory for System Engineering of Carbon Neutrality at Beijing Institute of Technology, visited Yinchuan No. 1 High School and Yinchuan No. 2 High School in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. He delivered a popular‑science lecture entitled Energy: Past and Future for nearly 200 Grade‑11 students at Yinchuan No. 1 High School.

Centering on the historical context and future outlook of the energy revolution, Professor Wei explained the transition of energy systems from conventional supply toward cleanliness, intelligence and coordination against the backdrop of global energy transition and the dual‑carbon strategy. He guided students to perceive energy and understand the energy revolution from daily‑life experiences. After the lecture, students kept discussing relevant questions with Professor Wei, which further deepened their understanding of energy science.

During this event, Professor Wei held forums with school leaders and teacher representatives from both Yinchuan No. 1 High School and Yinchuan No. 2 High School on topics including early‑stage cultivation of top‑notch innovative talents and the through‑training system. He presented to both schools the popular‑science monograph Illustrated Energy Revolution, winner of the 2025 “Capital Popular‑Science Book Award”. As among Ningxia’s first‑batch key high schools and first‑level demonstration schools, the two institutions are representative senior high schools for basic education in Ningxia. This activity has not only broadened students’ scientific horizons but also stimulated their interest in exploring energy‑science issues.
