The 17th China Industry‑University‑Research Cooperation Innovation Conference was held in Beijing on March 15, releasing the winners of the 2025 China Industry‑University‑Research Science and Technology Innovation Awards. The project titled Large Model‑Driven Key Technologies and Applications for Energy‑Carbon Monitoring and Regulation of Zero‑Carbon Parks, led by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), was awarded the First Prize of the Industry‑University‑Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement Award.

Led by Professor Wei Yiming, Distinguished Professor of BIT, Director of the Beijing Laboratory for System Engineering of Carbon Neutrality, the project was jointly completed by Antelope Industrial Internet Co., Ltd., Shandong Guoshun Construction Group Co., Ltd., GRG Metrology & Test Group Co., Ltd., Hefei Intelligent Speech Innovation Development Co., Ltd., and other collaborating institutions. Targeting the bottlenecks in coordinated energy‑carbon monitoring and regulation for zero‑carbon park construction, the research team established a large model‑centered technical system for intelligent analysis and decision‑making, achieving breakthroughs in multi‑modal data fusion, energy‑carbon status perception, cognitive reasoning and operational regulation.

Hosted under the theme Deep Integration of Scientific and Technological Innovation and Industrial Innovation to Develop New Quality Productive Forces, this year’s conference presented a total of 457 China Industry‑University‑Research Promotion Association Science and Technology Innovation Awards in 2025, including 122 Individual Innovation Awards and 335 Innovation Achievement Awards, recognizing outstanding researchers and exemplary achievements that advance in‑depth industry‑university‑research integration.

The conference featured a written address by Lu Yongxiang, Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, President of the 2nd Council of the China Industry‑University‑Research Promotion Association, and Member of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Chen Zhili, Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, officially opened the conference, while Wan Gang, Former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, delivered an opening speech. The event was presided over by Wang Jianhua, President of the China Industry‑University‑Research Promotion Association.

This prestigious award fully demonstrates the laboratory’s outstanding innovation capacity in the interdisciplinary field of energy and environmental system engineering and artificial intelligence. It also validates the significant practical value of large model‑driven collaborative energy‑carbon management technologies in supporting China’s dual‑carbon strategic goals.

The annual China Industry‑University‑Research Promotion Association Science and Technology Innovation Award is the highest honor for collaborative innovation across industrial, academic and research sectors. It recognizes outstanding scientists and major technological achievements that advance industry‑university‑research‑application collaborative innovation and support high‑level self‑reliance in science and technology. The award comprises two categories: the Industry‑University‑Research Cooperation Award for Innovative Individuals and the Award for Innovative Achievements.
