At 15:30 on March 14, 2018, Guoyi Han, researcher of the Stockholm Environment Institute, was invited to visit CEEP and gave a talk entitled “SEI and the SHUI-ChE project”. The report was hosted by Prof. Wang Ke, many teachers and students attended the report.
Guoyi Han specializes in nature-society synthesis in the areas of water resources, human dimensions of environmental change, disaster risk reduction, vulnerability and resilience of coupled human-environment systems, and applications of Geographic Information System (GIS). Guoyi Han's education includes PhD (Geography), MSc (Environmental Sciences), MA (Human Geography), BSc (Geography). He joined SEI in 2001. Prior to joining SEI, he was a Research Programmer for Idrisi GIS at the Clark Labs, Clark University, US (1997-2001), and he was an Assistant Professor at the School of Environment, Beijing Normal University, China (1988-1993).
In today's report, Dr. Guoyi Han gave a presentation about who we (SEI) are and what we do with a focus on the SHUI-ChE (Sustainable Hydropower Use and Integration in China and EU) project. He focused on the following three areas: China’s renewable curtailment challenge, policies and measures, as well as opportunities for collaboration; The development of pumped storage hydropower and challenge; and Power market reform and renewable energy integration.
