Doctor Qu Shen gave talks at CEEP

  At 2:30 pm on July 19, Dr. Qu Shen from the University of Michigan talked about "Water Scarcity Risk to the Global Trade System" in CEEP-BIT. The report was hosted by Dr. Shen Meng. Many teachers and students participated in the report.
 

  Dr. Qu Shen is a postdoctoral fellow at the School for Environment and Sustainability of University of Michigan. His research interests include trade and environment, urban metabolism, and industrial ecology. He graduated from the Physics Department of Tsinghua University and received his Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University in 2015. Currently, he has published more than 10 papers in SCI magazines such as Environmental Science & Technology, Global Environmental Change, and is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources, Conservation & Recycling.
  In this report, Dr. Qu Shen introduced the concept of “virtual water” in international trade, and assessed the risk of water scarcity in the global trading system and identified key sectors where water shortages can cause significant losses to the global trading system. These analyses help decision makers understand the broader socio-economic impacts of water scarcity in an increasingly globalized world and can serve as a basis for government negotiations and economic choices related to water scarcity risks. In addition, Dr. Qu also introduced his latest work in the two new research topics of spatialized environmental footprint and urban scale and metabolism, which helps students better understand the frontier research paradigms, research issues and research Ideas.After the report, Dr. Qu answered many questions and took the photo with teachers and students.
