During the period time from August 21 to August 27 in 2015, The 8th Japan-China Joint Seminar on Sustainable Management of Cities and Regions under Disaster and Environmental Risks has been held successfully. This seminar was sponsored by Disaster Prevention Research Institute in Kyoto University and School of Management and Economics in Beijing Institute of Technology and undertaken by Disaster Prevention Research Center in Kumamoto University. Over 60 teachers and students from Kyoto University, Kumamoto University, Kwansei Gakuin University, Tohoku University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Hunan University, Jiangsu University, and Sichuan Normal University have attended this meeting.
In this seminar, there were forty-three lectures with the theme named “Management under Disaster Risks and Climate Change”. And then, four excellent reports from students have been selected according to four aspects involving choosing reports, presentation skills, contexts of reports and performances in Q&A section.
The Japan-China Joint Seminar on Sustainable Management of Cities and Regions under Disaster and Environmental Risks was proposed together by Prof. Yi-Ming Wei from BIT and Prof. Tatano from Kyoto University in 2004. This seminar is held annually by China and Japan in turns, aiming at strengthening the academic exchanges in terms of social economic system modeling, management under disaster, management under risks, and energy economy and climate policy. The first seven seminars were held in Beijing, Kyoto, Zhenjiang, Kyoto, Beijing, Kyoto, and Beijing respectively.
This Joint Seminar has obtained the excellent outcomes, spreading and enhancing the international influences of School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology and promoting the cooperation and exchange with the scholars from Kyoto University.
