On March 25th, 2016, Prof. Lean Yu (Dean and PhD supervisor of School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Chemical Technology) gave talks about “The Big data and the Financial Internet: opportunities and challenges” in CEEP.

　　The report was hosted by Prof. Zhaohua Wang, prof. Yiming Wei, prof. Baojun Tang and some other teachers and students attended the seminar and had an in-depth discussion of this topic. This report introduced the latest developments and applications of financial data and the Internet. Prof Yu began his report from the real economy crisis, then introduced the Internet Finance and the competition in the age of big data, which is very enlightening and impressive.

　　Professor Lean Yu received his Ph.D. degree in Management Sciences and Engineering from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is a Dean and PhD supervisor of School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Chemical Technology. He is a winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and “Hundred Talents Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is acted as an editor-in-chief of International Journal of Intelligent Engineering Informatics and managing editor of International Journal of Computational Science as well as the editorial members of several international journals. So far, he has published four monographs (two monographs have been published by Springer-Verlag) and over 60 SCI/SSCI articles in some top journals including IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation and IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering. At the same time, he received many awards and honors, such as “China Youth Science and Technology Award” of the Organizing Department of CCCPC, “The 100 National Best PhD Theses Award” from Academic Degrees Committee of State Council and Ministry of Education of China, “First Class Prize for Beijing Science and Technology Award” from the Beijing Municipal Government, First Class Prize in Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, “First Class Prize for Applications of Operations Research in China” awarded by the Operations Research Society of China (ORSC), and “Lu Jia-xi Young Talent Award” of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include business intelligence, economic forecasting, energy economics and intelligent decision support systems.

　　After this lecture, teachers and students from CEEP-BIT had a heated discussion with Prof. Yu and had a picture taken together.
