On 20th May, 2016, Michael Pollitt, Professor of Business Economics at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, visited CEEP-BIT. He gave a talk about “In Search of "Good" Energy Policy: why multi-disciplinary approaches to Energy and Climate problems are so important” and received a warm welcome. This seminar was hosted by Associate Professor Biying Yu. Teachers along with students from CEEP-BIT attended this seminar.

Prof. Michael Pollitt is an Assistant Director of the university’s Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG) and a Fellow and Director of Studies in Economics and Management at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He is co-editor of Economics of Energy and Environmental Policy and a member of the editorial board of the Review of Industrial Organization and Competition and Regulation in Network Industries.

Energy policy is an area traditionally defined as being about three competing policy objectives. Every country on the planet has some combination of these three policy objectives at the heart of its energy policy. This talk seeks to explore the nature of ‘Good’ Energy Policy by offering a multi- disciplinary social science and humanities - economics, politics, anthropology, history, philosophy, theology and law, inter alia - perspective on policy making.
