On 7th August, 2015, Joe Zhu, Professor of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, visited CEEP-BIT. He gave a talk about “Data Envelopment Analysis” and received a warm welcome. This seminar was hosted by Associate Professor Ke Wang. Teachers along with students from CEEP-BIT attended this seminar.
Prof. Joe Zhu is the Professor of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and the expert in the field of Data Enveloped Analysis (DEA). This report is mainly about the DEA model.
Firstly, this report simply introduced the basic knowledge of DEA. And then he explained three fundamental models during the development of DEA and illustrated their values and some elaborations of related models. Besides, he exemplified how the DEA was used in practice using shipbuilders and organ transplant as two typical examples. Finally, he compared the difference between DEA and traditional statistical methods and proposed some innovative instructions on the basis of the recent research about DEA, inspiring teachers and students a lot.
After this seminar, teachers and students from CEEP-BIT had a heated discussion with Prof. Joe Zhu, learning more about the methodology he used.
