On the afternoon of October 22, 2025, Jiang Xi, Deputy Secretary of the Huaibei Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Huaibei City, headed a delegation to visit the Beijing Laboratory for System Engineering of Carbon Neutrality at Beijing Institute of Technology. Both sides conducted in‑depth discussions on strategic carbon‑neutrality measures for the coal industry and the integration of industry‑university‑research‑application. Professor Wei Yiming, Member of the Standing Committee of the BIT Party Committee, Vice‑President of Beijing Institute of Technology, held a symposium with the visitors.
Members of the visiting delegation included Guo Hailei, Secretary‑General of Huaibei Municipal People’s Government; Zhou Sixin, Member of the Party Committee Standing Committee and Chief Accountant of Huaibei Mining Group; Xu Xiuxia, Director of the Huaibei Municipal Talent Work Bureau; Sheng Lei, Director of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission; Wang Lei, Director of the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau; and Qi Dexin, Director of the Beijing Liaison Office of Huaibei Municipal People’s Government.
Mayor Jiang Xi and his entourage toured the laboratory to gain detailed insights into its construction layout, research priorities and latest research outcomes. Professor Wei Yiming gave a key presentation on innovative achievements covering efficient utilization of mineral resources, carbon‑neutrality pathway design and low‑carbon transition.
During the symposium, the two sides had thorough exchanges concerning Huaibei’s energy‑structure optimization, low‑carbon technology innovation and joint construction of research platforms. Mayor Jiang Xi extended an invitation to experts from the Beijing Laboratory for System Engineering of Carbon Neutrality for field investigations in Huaibei. He noted that Huaibei would further deepen cooperation to facilitate local transformation and application of scientific research achievements and advance win‑win development through university‑local government collaboration.
