On November 25, 2025, Professor Wei Yiming, Director of the Beijing Lab for System Engineering of Carbon Neutrality, visited Beijing Yanshan Qianjin Middle School. He delivered a science popularization lecture entitled Energy: Past and Future to teachers and students, and attended a book donation ceremony.

Hosted by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, the event was co-organized by the Capital Library, Yanshan Library and Beijing Yanshan Qianjin Middle School. It aimed to carry forward the spirit of scientists and sow the seeds of serving the country through science and technology among young people. Wang Gang, First-Class Researcher of the Science Popularization Department at the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Zhang Yuchen, Deputy Director of Yanshan Library, Pu Su, Deputy Director of Yanshan Cultural Activity Center, and Yuan Liping, Principal of Beijing Yanshan Qianjin Middle School, attended the event.

During the lecture, Professor Wei Yiming drew on perspectives from ancient to modern times and explained three core questions in a plain and accessible way: What is energy? How does energy reshape life? What will the future of energy look like? Through vivid audio-visual presentation and relatable real-life examples, he unpacked professional concepts such as smart energy systems and "source-grid-load-storage" synergy, systematically sorted out the evolution of human energy systems, and guided students to experience the boundless appeal of energy technology. In his closing remarks, he told the students, "You are the architects of the future", and encouraged them to set high aspirations and devote themselves to the cause of building the country through science and technology.

At the event site, Professor Wei Yiming presented the school with his popular science work Pictorial Energy Revolution, which was selected as one of the 2025 Capital Excellent Popular Science Books. These books will serve as seeds of energy science, guiding more students to open the door to exploration in the energy field.
