CEEP Holds the Workshop on DRAGON

  “Seminar on Low-Carbon Development Path for European and Chinese cities(2017)” held in Beijing Institute of Technology on Sep.25th, 2017.This symposium relies on the international cooperation and exchange program of the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC): Dynamics of Green Growth in European and Chinese cities (DRAGON). Seven teams attended this seminar, including University of East Anglia, Beijing Institute of Technology, University of Leeds, International Research Center on Environment and Development, Wuppertal Institute, Tsinghua University, and Beijing Normal University. In the very beginning of workshop, Prof. Yi-Ming Wei, director of CEEP-BIT addresses the welcome speech.


  The meeting focused on a series of key scientific questions about how the energy and low-carbon development are implement at the city level. The GOAL of this seminar is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the overall institutional framework and evolution mode of urban low-carbon development based on the typical cities in the EU and China. Prof. Qiao-mei Liang, from CEEP- BIT, Prof. Lan-cui Liu from Beijing Normal University, Professor Dabo Guan from University of East Anglia, Dr. Yu Wang from Tsinghua University hosted the seminars respectively.

 

  During the workshop, Prof. Qiao-mei Liang, head of the Chinese project and Prof. Dabo Guan, the project leader of the European side, reported on the progress of the project and the results achieved. Then, more than 10 experts from various units have detailed reports on their respective research results. Finally, China and the EU have conducted a discussion on the publicity methods of the project results and the potential cooperation for the next step. After the workshop, the researches visited the CEEP-BIT and exchanged views with the center researchers on energy and environmental policy.

 

  The Dragon project is one of the Sino-EU multilateral joint research project in the field of management science sponsored by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) , the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the Agence Nationale de Recherche (ANR), the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The implementation period of Dragon project is three years. Prof. Qiao-mei Liang in CEEP-BIT and Prof. Da-bo Guan in the University of East Anglia, UK are Co-investigators of the Dragon project in China and European respectively.
