On 8th June, 2015, Da-Yong Zhang, Professor of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, visited CEEP-BIT. He gave a talk about “Identifying the Determinants of Energy Intensity in China: A Bayesian Averaging Approach” and received a warm welcome. This seminar was hosted by Prof. Hua Liao, the deputy director of CEEP-BIT. Teachers and students from CEEP-BIT attended this seminar.
The report states that with server energy limits and increasing challenges of environmental deterioration, one of significant tools is to improve the efficiency of energy utilization and lower the intensity of energy consumption. However, there is not a consistent opinion about the driving factors of energy intensity theoretically and in terms of empirical studies. This paper figures out the determining factors of China’s energy use intensity at provincial level using Bayesian Averaging model. The findings show that financial supports, infrastructure construction and economic structure can influence and explain the determining factors of energy use intensity better.
After this seminar, teachers and students from CEEP-BIT had a heated discussion with Prof. Da-Yong Zhang and had a picture taken together.
