On July 7, 2019, at 16:00, Dr. Zhifu MI was invited to give an academic report entitled " Converging household carbon footprints in China ". This report was hosted by Dr. Meng Shen, many teachers and students attended the report.
Dr. Zhifu MI, Assistant professor at University College London, UK, and associate editor of the Journal of Cleaner Production. He holds a bachelor degree in mathematics from Shandong University, a doctoral degree in the School of Management and Economics from Beijing Institute of Technology, and a postdoctoral fellow in the School of International Development at the University of East Anglia, UK. His research field is climate change economics, energy policy and input-output analysis. In the past five years, he has published more than 30 SCI/SSCI papers in Science Advances, Nature Communications and other journals, including 7 ESI hotspot papers and 15 ESI high-cited papers. He won the 2018 world sustainable development award, in 2017 China's most influential international academic papers, 2016 Applied Energy highly cited original paper award, 2017 Environmental Research Letters best paper award for young scholars used to write climate change by Oxford University press invitation comprehensive evaluation model of review articles repeatedly, and he was invited to the United Nations conference on sustainable development and the UN conference on climate change many times
In today's report, Dr. MI shared an ongoing work, using input-output methods to calculate and compare the household carbon footprints of Chinese provinces, and analyzed the reasons for the differences. And in the paper he proposed a new concept: The Gini coefficient of the carbon footprint, and used to assess the “growth and wealth gap” and fairness of the carbon footprint.
