【Title】:Toward Ecological Cybernetics: the Nature 4.0 concept where cybernetics and biology interact

【Time】:10:30am, Sep 17, 2026.

【Location】:Beijing Lab for System Engineering of Carbon Neutrality

【About Report】:Nature 4.0 is a conceptual framework that describes integrating advanced digital technologies—such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics—into the monitoring, management, and restoration of natural and human-made ecosystems. Nature 4.0 envisions a cybernetic ecology and the creation of digital Twins of ecosystems. In this regard, opportunities for ecological communities to exploit new advances include the first Tree Digital Twin system (TreeTalker) and its replication in a Tree Neural Network for global forest monitoring and predicting climate change impacts. Further examples of digital technologies in ecosystem research will be provided.
