The BIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEP-BIT) attaches great importance to the international cultivation of talents, encouraging students to engage with the world’s top universities and research institutions to broaden their academic horizons and build cross-border research collaborations. Currently, more than ten doctoral students from the center are pursuing joint training at prestigious universities and research institutions across Europe, North America, Australia and other regions. Through active participation in international conferences, in-depth research group seminars and extensive academic exchanges, doctoral students absorb frontier knowledge and refine their research capabilities. The following is the latest update on overseas academic visits.
Academic Visit Updates
Zhang Ruining
Zhang Ruining became a member of Downing College, University of Cambridge, UK this semester, and delivered an academic presentation at the Lent Term MCR/SCR Seminar Night hosted by the college. Open to faculty and students from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, this academic event serves as a key platform for the college to advance interdisciplinary exchanges.
Zhang Ruining presented his ongoing research on the energy conservation and emission reduction benefits of improving household appliance energy efficiency, and held exchanges and discussions with the on-site audience on related research topics. This presentation also marked the first time he systematically introduced his research work to an audience outside his specialized field. Through accessible background briefing and structured research presentation, the talk enabled attendees from different academic backgrounds to better understand the relevant research issues and their policy implications. After the presentation, participating faculty and students exchanged views on research methodologies, policy implications and future research directions.
Professor Paul Millett of Downing College introduced the presentation and took part in the discussion. Professor Hamish Symington, a relevant official of the college, provided guidance and advice during the preparation of the presentation.
