From May to June 2026, multiple doctoral students from the center participated in model training workshops and thematic seminars, engaging in exchanges and learning on cutting-edge topics including integrated health assessment modeling, climate technology innovation and deployment, and market competition.

On May 27, Chen Zheyi attended the Climate Solutions Catalyst Summit hosted by Imperial College London. Featuring keynote speeches, case sharing and cross-sector exchanges, the event explored how climate solutions can move from laboratory research to real-world application from multiple perspectives including climate technology innovation, industrial collaboration, policy support, investment mechanisms and research commercialization. It emphasized that addressing climate change requires not only scientific research but also joint support from policy, markets and society to drive the large-scale deployment of low-carbon technologies across energy, industrial and urban systems. By learning from perspectives of experts from different countries and fields, Chen Zheyi gained a deeper understanding of the interconnections between climate technology innovation, low-carbon investment mechanisms and green policy incentives, and broadened his international vision for research on practical pathways of low-carbon transition.
On May 29, Yang Bo attended the seminar Connecting Climate Science and Health Modeling hosted by IIASA. The conference brought together experts and scholars from multiple fields including atmospheric science, epidemiology and integrated assessment modeling. Speakers from institutions such as IIASA and ISIMIP shared assessment methodologies in climate-health modeling, covering topics including integrating health dimensions into integrated assessment models, expanding health indicators in SSP pathways, air pollution impact analysis based on the GAINS model, and climate modeling ecosystems and their simulators. In addition, Yang Bo participated in the regular meeting of the IIASA Nexus Group, exchanging the latest progress in respective fields with scholars in the group. He also joined the 2026 YSSP program briefing of the ECE Group, and held in-depth discussions with multiple researchers on health risk measurement and cost estimation of decent living standards.
Cai Qiran attended the academic lecture Rebalancing Markets: Competition, power, and a fair economy organized by the University of Auckland Business School. The lecture invited experts and scholars from the fields of regulation, energy, consumer behavior, law and economics to discuss the causes of insufficient market competition and factors contributing to market rebalancing. It analyzed how legal frameworks, regulatory environments, business practices and their underlying assumptions interact to collectively shape the current market landscape. By integrating multiple perspectives including competition law, market regulation, marketing, consumer behavior and industrial practice, the analytical framework was expanded from focusing on individual firm behavior to a systemic level. This lecture deepened Cai Qiran’s understanding of the role of market competition and the analysis of complex socioeconomic issues from a systemic perspective.
