  On October 30, 2019, at 15:00, Paul Burke, Associate Professor, School of Public Policy, National University of Australia, was invited to give a lecture entitled "Carbon pricing efficacy: Cross-country evidence" The lecture was presided over by Professor Liao Hua. In attendance were the teachers and students of the School of Management and Economics.

 

  Paul Burke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the Australian National University. His research interests include energy economics, environmental economics, transportation economics, and economic development. He is currently working on issues such as zero-carbon energy policies in the Asia-Pacific region, regional unemployment in Australia, and Japan's pollution policy. Paul Burke's research has been published in American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Economic Inquiry, Nature Geoscience, Nature Climate Change, and Global Environmental Change.

  In this lecture, Associate Professor Paul Burke highlighted research on the contribution of carbon pricing to the reduction of carbon emissions in the national energy sector. Using the econometric approach and data from more than 20 years in 143 countries, the study validated the enormous role that carbon pricing-related policies can play in carbon reduction strategies. At the end of the lecture, participants discussed the research methods and the development of China's carbon market with Associate Professor Paul Burke and took a group photo.
