On May 27, 2019, at 10:00 am, Dr. Yang Xia, the editor of Nature Communications, was invited to visit and gave an academic report entitled “Publishing Interdisciplinary Research in the Nature journals”. This report was presided over by Professor Yu, deputy director of the center. The teachers and students of the center participated in the report.

Dr. Yang Xia joined in January 2018 as the first social science editor. She has a BS in economics, a MS in sustainability, both from the University of Leeds, and a doctorate in ecological economics from the University of East Anglia, where her research focuses on quantitative assessment of the socioeconomic impacts of health outcomes resulting from disasters such as heat-waves and air pollution. She handles manuscripts on socio-economics, climate-related health risks, climate policy and sustainability. She is based in the London office.
In today's report, Dr. Yang Xia started with an overview of the Nature journals, introduced the structure of Nature, and then combined her practical work experience to show us the Nature journals review process, the overview and architecture of Nature Communications, and the Multidisciplinary cross-disciplinary research in its eyes; finally ending with an introduction to the content of platforms and resources in the Nature journals. Everyone is very concerned about editing and submission issues, but due to time, only a few issues have been opened for everyone to communicate with Dr. Yang Xia. After the report, Dr. Yang Xia took a group photo with everyone.
