Prof. Peng Hu gave talks at CEEP

  At 10:00 on December 3 2018, Prof. Peng Hu, from School of Management, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was invited to visit CEEP and did an academic report entitled “Several Topics on Dynamic Operational Management with Strategic Customers”. This report was hosted by Prof. Ke Wang, many teachers and students attended the report.


  Professor Peng Hu is a professor at the School of Management at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is a Ph.D. student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He focuses on the application of dynamic programming methods in operations research and operations management. His research involves optimization algorithm design, revenue management, and inventory. In the fields of management and other fields, he has published 5 papers in MS, OR and POM journals in the past five years, and in 2017 he won the National Self-Study Fund Outstanding Youth Project. Professor Hu also works with a number of companies on long-term cooperation in operational management and achieved good results. He was the second in the first management practice award awarded by the Chinese Scholars Management Science and Engineering Association.
  In today’s report, Professor Peng Hu introduced a few recent works on dynamic pricing and availability decisions of a firm facing strategic customers. Specifically, he discussed three topics on pricing with reference price effects, markdown management with stockpiling customers, and availability management with scarcity effects, where the purpose is to understand the intertem-temporal interaction between firm and customers in the long-run. After the report, Professor Peng Hu took the picture with teachers and students at CEEP together.
